Fifty years of justice in Dutch energy policy
The meaning given to the term “energy justice” is tied to time, place, and context and is thus constantly being redefined.
That is what Annemiek de Looze and Sander ten Caat explain in their interview with Energeia. In this interview, Annemiek and Sander discuss the findings from our research on conceptions of justice in Dutch national energy policy over the past 50 years. In this study, conducted together with Shivant Jhagroe, Antonella Maiello and Eefje Cuppen, we studied Dutch energy policy between 1974 and 2022 to find out what kind of conceptions of justice were embedded in Dutch energy policy. We found that what the government considered to be just was bound to time, place, and context, and is therefore subject to change.
